About our Course Levels

At Summit, our goal is to take you to the peak of your technology education. Our course levels reflect this goal. Level 1 is the entry level, while Level 2 is for intermediate users, and Level 3 is for the highly skilled. Use these levels to help you select the course that’s right for you.

Microsoft Office Version

All MS Office courses that are taught using our mobile classroom use Microsoft Office version 2003. If you have another version—no problem! Just give Summit Consulting Associates a call at (262) 889-8566 to discuss your Microsoft Office training.

M3 - Microsoft Windows, the Mouse, and Mail

Fundamental building blocks for mastering the personal computer

Does your work require only occasional computing? Or, do you need a good foundation to begin learning business software? In this course you develop confidence navigating the Microsoft Windows operating system using the mouse, and learn to send and receive e-mail. Five hours.

Word

Word processing skills are essential for anyone who writes anything on a computer! Achieve an instant productivity boost by learning proper word processing techniques.

Level 1: Get your feet wet by creating, saving, formatting, editing, and printing letters, memos, envelopes, and labels. Six hours.
Prerequisite: M3 or equivalent experience.

Level 2: Take the plunge into advanced formatting, including columns, tables, styles, charts, and graphics. Six hours.
Prerequisite: Level 1 or equivalent experience

Excel

Got numbers? Excel is the tool of choice for working with numerical data and simple databases.

Level 1: Create, save, and edit spreadsheets. Learn how to make them look good and print them. Perform basic calculations on your data to get the answers you need. Six hours.
Prerequisite: M3 or equivalent experience.

Level 2: Perform advanced calculations, work with multi-page workbooks, learn advanced formatting and printing techniques, work with data tables, and create charts to help grasp your data’s meaning and discover trends.
Six hours.
Prerequisite: Level 1 or equivalent experience

PowerPoint

Microsoft’s PowerPoint helps support speakers with professional-looking graphics. Learn to create presentations while discovering best practices for presenting to an audience.

Level 1: Create, save, format, edit, print, and present presentations. Incorporate graphics and draw shapes to enhance your message. Six hours.
Prerequisite: M3 or equivalent experience.

Level 2: Take presentations to the next level with charts, tables, action buttons, and sound media. Six hours.
Prerequisite: Level 1 or equivalent experience

Access

Drowning in data? Learn Microsoft Access and get a grip on all that information! Organize, filter, compare, and link data to reveal its meanings.

Level 1: Create, save, and edit databases. Learn how to ask questions about the data (called “querying”) to find the answers you need. Create data entry forms and reports that organize your data in a meaningful way.
Six hours.
Prerequisite: M3 or equivalent experience.

Level 2: Databases that link to one another (called “relational databases”) add powerful new possibilities to your information processing. You’ll also learn how to take your forms and reports to the next level of sophistication.
Six hours.
Prerequisite: Level 1 or equivalent experience

Project

Microsoft Project helps project managers schedule and track of all of their project resources.

Level 1: Let us take you through the Preliminary, Planning and Tracking phases of Microsoft Project, which include: creating a custom calendar; creating and managing tasks in the Gantt chart; creating, assigning and managing resources; creating a baseline plan; and tracking your project efficiently.
Six hours.
Prerequisite: M3 or equivalent experience.
